THIS SESSION AIMS AT EXPLORING THE POSSIBILITIES TO USE A SPECIFIC REGIONAL SPACE TO INVESTIGATE RESILIENCE FUTURES (E.G. FOR A MUNICIPALITY, A PART OF A COUNTRY OR A CROSSGOING GEOGRAPHIC TERRITORY BETWEEN STATES) WITH SPECIFIC REGARD TO EUROPEAN CASES. OF CENTRAL INTEREST IS THE MULTI LAYEREDNESS OF THE GOVERNANCE STRUCTURE AND ITS RELATION TO THE TRANSFORMATION OF SOCIETY AT LARGE – INCLUDING STAKEHOLDER PARTICIPATION, USE OF CONNECTING MODELS COVERING ENVIRONMENTAL REALITIES AS WELL AS SOCIAL, ECONOMIC OR CULTURAL ASPECTS IN A FUTURES ORIENTED SOCIETAL TRANSFORMATIONAL PERSPECTIVE. ONE KEY EXEMPLIFICATION WILL BE THE CONCERN TO CREATE VALID PATHS TO TRANSFORM SOCIETIES TOWARDS LOW CARBON SOCIETIES BY 2050.

EXAMPLES OF ISSUES TO BE DEALT WITH IN THIS SESSION AIMED AT “NEW METHODOLOGY AND TOOLS” ARE:

- WAYS TO CREATE PROCESSES IN SUPPORT FOR POLITICAL, CULTURAL AND ECONOMIC TRANSFORMATIONS

- HOW TO LINK VARIOUS EARLIER SEPARATE APPROACHES AND TOOLS TO CREATE AN INTEGRATED TOTALITY

- HOW TO CREATE MEANS FOR PARTICIPATION BY VERY DIFFERENT TYPES OF STAKEHOLDERS IN ORDER TO CREATE “OWNERSHIP” TO THE SUGGESTED TRANSFORMATION MEANS

EXAMPLES OF IMPLICIT OR EXPLICIT CONTROVERSIES COULD RELATE TO E.G.

- TENSION FIELDS BETWEEN DIFFFENT TYPES OF ACTORS AT DIFFERENT LAYERS IN THE MULTILAYERED GOVERNANCE STRUCTURE

- TENSIONS BETWEEN MID TERM AND LONG TERM CONSIDERATIONS

- TENSIONS BETWEEN DIFFERENT PERCEPTIONS ABOUT VALUE BASED POSITIONS ON A “BEST PATH”
